Rodent and lagomorph

Some of you may not know, but the rabbit is not a rodent.  In some books of the 50s it may be found that the rabbit belonged to the order Rodentia. When a new classification was given, the species that belonged to these families: Leporidae (rabbits and hares) and Ochotonidae (pikas) were considered as lagomorphs and not as rodents

Why?

Mainly because lagomorphs differ  from rodents in that they have four incissors in the upper jaw, rodents only have two.
